Murugan was displaced to India during the war. He
returned after the ceasefire agreement and got married in Trincomalee where
they were living until the 2004 tsunami. They lost everything in the tsunami. Family
came to Jaffna and was living with their mother-in-law. Murugan worked in a tea shop in
Urumpirai where he would stay during the week. He returns to his children during the weekend.
On the 16th January 2006 two men arrived at the tea shop where he was working at 8.30 am.
The two men suddenly opened fire on Murugan and he received gun shot wounds on his chest
and stomach. He died on the spot. |
